Andrea and Adam had spent years getting their home exactly how they wanted to, they do not want to move, "says designer Siobhan Casey. "Instead, they decided that the best solution was to dig to create a basement for a new family kitchen and dining room which would then release the existing kitchen for cake business custom Andrea. The couple wanted the basement to be the new center of the house, where sociable family could entertain and spend time together.
Andrea has a wonderfully eclectic taste and had a vision of how she wanted the space to look at, but once the construction was completed, she needed some help put his ideas together in a coherent manner. That's where I came in, said Siobhan. The basement now houses a generous kitchen, dining room and comfortable. The space successfully combines traditional and contemporary elements with a hint of midcentury style.
Andrea is not afraid to experiment when it comes to design, Siobhan said, 'and the finished room is such a wonderfully eclectic and welcoming space, perfect for entertaining family and friends, and kicking back and watching TV.

A walnut staircase, just coming out, leads down from the main house in the new home cooking dining room. "It is a great area with limited natural light, so we opted for neutral units with accents of walnut in the upper cabinet and below the island to add warmth," says Siobhan. "It's a nice touch that brings texture to this part of the room and prevents it from becoming too cold or clinical.

given the quest for Andrea to light, the color of dark wall - Farrow & Ball Down pipe - seems a surprising choice at first. "They were very eager to add an element of drama to the regime, said Siobhan. Andrea wanted it to be a topic of discussion and believed that uniform white walls would look a bit dull.
The polished concrete floor injects an atmosphere of industrial-style space. "It is a great look with a seamless finish, but it was a practical choice, also says Siobhan.
