The owners of this kitchen, south-west London, worked with Stella Kordista designer of A1 Lofts and extensions to create just that - replacing a rustic twee style cuisine with a fresh, modern design and increasing the global space with side and rear extension.

"This transformation of the kitchen was the latest step in a complete overhaul of the house for the owners," says designer Stella Kordista. "They wanted something timeless that was full of light and, as they are both passionate cooks, he had to work on a practical level, too. "

in order to increase the amount of space available for cooking, side Kordista added back and rear extensions to the Victorian house. The back side has three Velux skylights to improve natural light, with intelligent function remote control for opening and closing.

" the most difficult part of the design worked in a relatively small space to fit in all the required owners, "said Kordista.

A large stainless steel backsplash adds a contemporary touch and reflects the light, keeping the bright space, while the exhaust fan is carefully hidden in the chimney above.

"as well as the new roof windows, we increased the light in the room by exchanging, existing French doors shaped bay for those of contemporary bifolding" says Kordista. "These provide beautiful view of the garden when the couple dined. "
